Report by Vitaliy Yasenchuk on 05.06.2025

On June 5, our second-year graduate student, Vitaliy Yasenchuk, presented the interim results of his dissertation research on the topic: “Transfer processes in the channels of a membrane module”.

The work is aimed at improving the efficiency of membrane technologies in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.

In his work, Vitaliy investigated the influence of the geometry of the channels and spacers on the hydraulic resistance and transfer processes. As a result of CFD modeling, it was possible to prove that the shape of the spacers has a significant impact on the efficiency of the process, reducing the hydraulic resistance. The influence of the curvature of the channels on the process requires additional research.

The result was the development of a mathematical model that allows for more accurate prediction of the behavior of the liquid in the membrane module.

In the future, experimental studies will be conducted to verify the modeling results.
