Students are the driving force that improves KPI, the city and the country every day with their enthusiasm, ideas and knowledge. In 1998, on the way to the democratization of higher education, the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” was supplemented with Article No. 38, which initiated the implementation of student self-government. It was then that the active and conscious students of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Ihor Sikorsky created the Student Council. Its main goal was and remains the creation of favorable conditions for the active participation of all students in the everyday life of the university, its improvement and diversification. Subsequently, in January 2010, amendments were made to the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”, which expanded the powers and duties of student self-government bodies, giving them more opportunities to influence the life of the university. The Student Council is the exercise of this right. We represent students at all levels, organize events, build international connections, inform and fight for the quality of education.

The main goals and objectives of the Student Council of KPI named after Igor Sikorsky:

  • promotion of educational, scientific and creative activities of students;
  • organization of students’ leisure and recreation;
  • promotion and creation of the necessary social and living conditions for university students;
  • implementation of inter-university and international work;
  • protection of legal rights and interests of students in state authorities and administration;
  • promotion of student employment;

The Student Council of KPI named after Igor Sikorskyi actively cooperates with student organizations of KPI and other universities, public organizations, youth associations, such as the Union of Initiative Youth, the Student Council of the City of Kyiv, the All-Ukrainian Student Council, and the National Student Union. Bodies of student self-government of KPI named after Igor Sikorskyi are among the most active in the all-Ukrainian youth space, participating in round tables, conferences, plenums and working groups on student self-government and current student problems.
